PUNTA LEONA RESERVE
From a geographical and conservation point of view, this reserve is one of the most important in the Pacific area of Costa Rica. Today, Punta Leona is home to the only jungles still existing in the transitional living region between the jungles of the southwest and the dry forests of the northwest.

The Punta Leona Refuge, established more than 25 years ago to preserve the area's diverse flora and fauna, is a 300-hectare (750-acre) reserve of primarily vibrant primary and secondary rainforests.
It is also a mammal and bird research center, and is home to more than 330 migratory and native birds of various species. The Punta Leona Refuge is exotic, tropical and beautiful.
It is home to the endangered species called the Scarlet Macaw. The reserve is also home to animals such as quails, toucans, among others.
